N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff in 2019. N’famady’s primary instrument is the balafon – a traditional wooden xylophone. N’famady’s music is a blend of his West African heritage and Western musical influences, he plays solo and also fronts an indie/jazz/funk band.
Highlights of his career to date include main stage performances Latitude and Shrewsbury festivals, representing Wales at Celtic Connections & SXSW, supporting & performing with Gruff Rhys, and winning the 2023 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition. This year N’famady is touring extensively, building up to support his much-anticipated debut album release.
