We’re delighted to announce that Zetra have been named the 2025 recipients of The Great Escape’s Steve Strange Award, celebrating boundary-breaking new talent and the legacy of the iconic music agent Steve Strange.
The London-based duo – known for their dark, immersive sound blending gothic metal, synth-pop and shoegaze – captivated audiences at this year’s festival with their intense performances and emotionally charged songwriting.
Created in collaboration with Steve Strange’s friends and colleagues, the Steve Strange Award honours artists pushing creative boundaries and forging deep connections with fans. The winner receives a £5,000 cash prize to support their artistic journey — whether in the studio, on the road, or wherever inspiration takes them.
“Zetra perfectly embody the originality and bold vision that the Steve Strange Award celebrates,” said Rory Bett, Managing Director of MAMA Group. “Each year, this award is our way of helping exceptional emerging artists take the next step in their journey and connect with wider audiences. At its heart, The Great Escape is about championing groundbreaking new music and nurturing the talent that will shape the future of our industry.”
This year’s award highlights Zetra’s rising influence and artistic ambition — and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
If you missed their set at TGE, don’t worry — Zetra are set to play Download Festival next, where you can experience their unique sound live once again
Congratulations to Zetra – the 2025 Steve Strange Award winners!
